Evaluation of mechanical, thermal and emission properties of pellets from agrifood sector waste

Main ideas of the proposed dissertation topic:

  • Monitoring and analysis of the latest findings in the field of biomass evaluation used for pellet production, both domestically and abroad.
  • Definition of the material base, taking into account the conditions of the agri-food sector in Slovakia, with the aim of using pellets to increase energy self-sufficiency and apply the principles of the circular economy.
  • Proposal of pelleting conditions and biomass composition in terms of material types and particle size. Evaluation of the mechanical and thermal properties of pellets, determination of emission quantity and composition, and execution of stoichiometric calculations.
  • Based on the results, compile a catalogue of materials for pellet production, including specific options for energy and non-energy applications. 

    • Assessment of the contribution of the proposed technological innovations from an energy standpoint and in terms of their environmental impact.
