Experimental Evaluation of Emissions from Vehicle Brake Systems Using Spectrometric and Optical Methods

The doctoral thesis will focus on the experimental evaluation of brake emissions generated during the interaction of brake materials under various braking regimes. Emphasis will be placed on the analysis of size, number, and material characteristics of particles generated by tribological processes in brake systems. Measurements will be carried out under controlled laboratory conditions using a brake simulator, which enables precise control of braking parameters and ensures the reproducibility of experiments. Part of the research will involve professional collaboration with the University of Defence in Brno, which is equipped with specialised instrumentation suitable for detailed analysis of collected samples. The analytical capabilities will allow characterisation of the generated particulate emissions in terms of their size distribution, particle number concentration, and chemical composition. The combination of optical, particle-based, and spectrometric methods will enable a thorough description of the properties of the generated particles and their correlation with operating conditions and the material composition of brake components.
