Effect of hydrogen on deformation behavior and fracture of high-strength wrought complex concentrated alloys

Main ideas of the proposed dissertation topic:

The PhD thesis will be focused on the research of the influence of hydrogen on the deformation behavior and

fracture of high-strength wrought complex concentrated alloys (CCAs). The PhD student will participate in

forming, heat treatment, hydrogenation and characterizing the properties of new CCAs based on CoCrFeNi

with additions of Al, Ti, Ta or Nb. Student will investigate the relationship between hydrogen content,

microstructure and fracture toughness of the prepared CCAs. The PhD student will participate in the numerical

modeling of crack initiation, crack propagation and fracture in CCAs prospective for hydrogen applications,

which will be performed by finite element method (software Ansys) and verified using destructive (bending)

and non-destructive methods (acoustic emission). The validity and accuracy of numerical calculations will be

verified by experimental data from mechanical tests.
