Offer Description
A call for applications is open for a Research Grant (BI) within the scope of the project “VIMOS – Virtual Integrated Market Online Shopping”, with SIID topology - Business R&D - Co-promotion - Low Density, project number 21244, NORTE2030-FEDER-02214300”, funded by the “European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Northern Regional Programme (Norte 2030) of Portugal 2030”, under the following conditions:

2. Admission Requirements:
- The candidate must hold a Master's degree in Computer Science or related fields. - The candidate must be enrolled in a doctoral program in the area of Computer Science or related scientific fields, or in a non-degree-granting course integrated into the project. pedagogical role at a higher education institution.
Proficiency in Portuguese and English (written and oral communication) will be required.
3. Work Plan:
The tasks to be performed are:
1) Detailed analysis of the literature and the state of the art, with the aim of identifying the best practices and tools in the field of virtual environments and augmented reality.
2) Collection and organization of relevant information, creating a solid basis to support technological decisions in the following stages of the project.
3) Design of a reference example of a 'retail park' including stores, displays and products.
4) Collaboration in the writing of scientific articles and technical reports;
4. Objectives:
Design of a reference example of a 'retail park' including stores, displays and products, in accordance with the current state of the art. Collaborating in the preparation of technical and scientific documentation related to the reference example.
5. Applicable legislation and regulations:
Statute of the Scientific Research Grant Holder, approved by Law No. 40/2004, of August 18, in its current wording; FCT, I.P. Research Grant Regulations, in force (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/docs/RegulamentoBolsasFCT2019.pdf );
Regulation No. 522/2020, published in the Official Gazette, 2nd series, No. 113, of June 12 – Research Grant Regulations of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança.
6. Workplace and scientific supervision:
The work will be carried out in Bragança, at the Research Center for Digitalization and Intelligent Robotics, Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, Portugal, under the scientific supervision of Paulo Jorge Teixeira Matos.
7. Grant Duration:
The grant will have an initial duration of 6 months, with a planned start date of 09/03/2026 (non-renewable).
8. Monthly Maintenance Allowance:
The grant amount corresponds to 1,309.64€, according to the table of grant values awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country.
Grant recipients will benefit from personal accident insurance and, if they are not covered by any social protection scheme, they may ensure the exercise of their right to social security by joining a voluntary social security scheme, under the terms provided for in the Code of Contribution Regimes of the Social Security System.
The grant amount will be paid monthly by bank transfer.
9. Selection Methods and their respective weighting:
The selection methods to be used will be as follows:
a) Curriculum evaluation and its suitability for the work in question (30%);
b) Experience, according to the desired profile (20%);
c) Scientific curriculum, considering publications and participation in projects (20%).
d) Conditions, and expression of interest, to undertake doctoral training within the scope of the project (30%);
If deemed necessary, an interview may be held with the two top-ranked candidates, where the candidates' motivation, availability, and knowledge to develop the proposed work plan will be evaluated with a weight of 30%, with the remaining 70% allocated to the evaluation related to the previous points.
The jury may not award the grant if the candidates' ranking is lower than 9.5 (out of 20).
10. Composition of the Selection Jury:
The jury consists of Professor Paulo Matos (President), Professor José Gonçalves (member) and Professor Pedro Filipe Oliveira (member). Alternates: Professor Rui Pedro Lopes and Professor Rogério Tavares.
11. Method of publication/notification of results:
The communications and final evaluation results will be published through the IPB application submission portal or, if necessary, by email notification.
12. Application deadline:
The competition is open from 11/02/2026 to 24/02/2026.
13. Application Submission Method:
Applications can be submitted through the IPB application submission portal (http://concursos.ipb.pt ), including the following documents:
a) Curriculum Vitae;
b) Academic qualifications certificate;
c) Letter of motivation
Documents proving the possession of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academic degree or diploma, may be waived during the application phase, being replaced by a declaration of honor from the candidate, with verification of this condition being mandatory during the contracting phase of the grant.
Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25. Presentation of the recognition is mandatory for signing the contract.
14. Deadlines and procedures for complaints and appeals:
If the decision to be taken is unfavorable to the granting of the requested grant, candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results, to comment, if they wish, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Administrative Procedure Code.
An appeal against the final decision may be lodged with the President of the IPB within 15 working days after its notification.
