Offer Description

Research scholarship for one candidate holding a Bachelor degree is open, in the framework of project with reference COMPETE2030-FEDER-00929300, entitled “Personalized Computational Forecasting of Prostate Adenocarcinomas” co-financed by COMPETE 2030, Portugal 2030 and the European Union.

ADDF – Associação para o Desenvolvimento do Departamento de Física, a nonprofit private organization, part of the National Scientific and Technological System, opens a call for a scholarship grant to hire a Bachelor for 5 months, starting 1 May 2026, in exclusivity, eventually renewable in accordance with applicable legislation and depending on project execution and financing. The hiring process will be ruled by Portuguese legislation, under Law   n.º 40/2004, of August 18, modified by Decree-Law n.º 202/2012, of August 27, by Decree-Law n.º 233/2012, of October 29, by Law n.º 12/2013, of January 29, by Decree-Law n.º 89/2013, of July 9, and by Decree-Law n.º 123/2019, of August 28 (Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação); Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da FCT,l.P. was approved on the December 16 of 2019, which full text is available at:

Admission requirements:

The candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in  Biomedical Physics be enrolled in a master degree or non-academic course, integrated in an educational project of a higher education institution, developed in associations or cooperation with one or more R&D units.

The proof of enrollment must be completed until the contract is signed, and the candidate may attach a declaration of commitment to honor that he/she meets the requirements for enrollment in a master or non-degree awarding course.

If the Bachelor's degree, required in this call for applications as an admission requirement for the scholarship type in question, was obtained abroad, you must submit one of the following documents (See also the NOTES below):

- Proof of recognition, equivalence, or registration of the academic degree by a Portuguese Institution;

- Proof that you have already submitted a request for recognition of the degree, which must be submitted by the deadline for signing the contract.

We emphasize that academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25. Specific Requirements

Work Plan:

The scholarship holder will support tasks within the scope of this project, namely:

- To characterize realistic vascular networks, blood flow, and tissue irrigation.

Work place: The activities will be carried out at the facilities of the Physics Centre of the University of Coimbra or other locations necessary for the execution of the work plan, under the scientific guidance of Rui Travasso, Principal Investigator of the Project and Associate Professor at the University of Coimbra.

Duration of the fellowship: The fellowship will last for 5 months, starting on 1 May 2026.

Amount of the monthly maintenance subsidy: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €1.040,98€, according to the table of scholarship values awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country:

To this amount is added voluntary social security, should the applicant opt ​​for it andi n addition to this value the candidate will also benefit from a personal insurance.

• Curriculum evaluation (100%), focusing on relevance, quality, timeliness and suitability for the functions to be performed;

Exceptionally, proof of enrollment must be provided before the contract is signed, and the candidate may attach a declaration of honor stating that they meet the requirements for enrollment in a master program or non-degree course.

Application period: The competition is open from 30 March to 14 April 2026.

Additional information:

The results of the evaluation will be announced by 16 April 2026, by sending a communication to the candidates, via email. After the publication of the results, the candidates will be notified so that, if they wish, they can express their opinion at a prior hearing within a maximum period of 10 working days after that date. After this period, the selected candidates will have to declare, in writing, their acceptance and communicate the effective start date of the scholarship. Unless reasonable justification is presented, failure to provide the statement within the aforementioned period is equivalent to waiver of the scholarship. In case of resignation or withdrawal of the selected candidate, the candidate with the highest ranking will be notified.
