Description

The Department of History at the University of North Alabama invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor in the history of the medieval world (500-1500) to begin August 2026. We are particularly interested in those with research and/or teaching experience in science, medicine, and technology. Any geographic specialization is welcome to apply. Teaching responsibilities will include survey courses in world history, medieval history, as well as advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialty. Essential Job Duties

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, an active research agenda, and commitment to the campus community. The standard teaching load is 4/4.


Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in History at the time of appointment is required.

Official transcripts must be sent directly to HR from the issuing school via email or postal mail to be considered official. Transcripts with a designation of “Issued to Student”, or with the student name listed as the recipient will not be considered official. Official transcripts will be required of the successful candidate prior to the start date of the appointment, but unofficial copies will be accepted for the application process.
