Summary
Under the direction of the Summer Program Director, the Educator will be responsible for the delivery of an excellent program of secondary school instruction, including participation in the creation of the curriculum. The Summer Geometry course covers traditional topics studied in Euclidean Geometry. The Educator is expected to design and deliver high-quality, in-person summer instruction in Geometry.
Job Duties

  • Design and deliver a rigorous in-person Geometry course aligned with the goals and expectations of a credit-bearing upper-school summer program.
  • Teach core Euclidean Geometry topics, including points, lines, planes, angles, parallel and perpendicular lines, triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, prisms, pyramids, cylinders, congruence, similarity, special right triangles, and area and volume formulas.
  • Develop lessons that build conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills within a compressed summer schedule.
  • Guide students in using both inductive and deductive reasoning to identify patterns, form conclusions, and justify solutions.
  • Teach and reinforce the use of formal, precise mathematical language in class discussion, written work, and mathematical proofs or explanations.
  • Support students in developing strong visualization skills related to shapes on a plane and in space.
  • Design and administer assessments, classwork, and assignments that measure understanding and provide meaningful feedback on student progress.
  • Grade all student work in a timely and consistent manner, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student performance in accordance with summer program grading policies.
  • Prepare students to complete coursework both during class and at home in order to keep pace with the demands of the accelerated program.
  • Maintain a structured, inclusive, and academically focused classroom environment that supports engagement, accountability, and persistence.
  • Track attendance, academic progress, and course completion requirements in accordance with summer program expectations.
  • Collaborate with Summer Program leadership and fellow educators to support a cohesive and successful student experience.
  • Communicate professionally with students, families, and school personnel as needed regarding expectations, progress, and attendance concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
