The Education Abroad team invites you to apply for student employment as part of our Student Engagement Team. The mission of the Student Engagement Team is to create an open atmosphere to welcome visitors to our front office, as well as provide aid in recruitment to our study abroad programs which will also include peer advising.
Student Assistants provide customer service to students and faculty interested in study abroad, and they also assist Education Abroad staff with internal office projects. Peer Advising will be an additional role our office will assign.
You will also help run the front office through clerical maintenance and assist in recruitment through events, peer advising, and presentations.
Responsibilities Include:
- Greeting visitors and answering general questions pertaining to Education Abroad
- Contributing to a welcoming and inclusive study abroad advising process
- Preparing and maintaining organized files and packets or meeting materials
- Assist peers with answering questions about Education Abroad programs, scholarships, and procedures
- Receiving and processing incoming and outgoing mail, both hard copy and the central Education Abroad email account
- Facilitate presentation about the OU study abroad process and available programs
- Lead group advising session on various OU study abroad programs
- 1-1 advising peers on study abroad programs
- Public speaking, including presenting the Study Abroad 101 regularly across campus in-person and through zoom
- Assist Education Abroad professional staff with job function including management of application materials, data entry, student orientation, recruitment, advising, and other projects as assigned

Job Requirements

Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in a combination of two terms as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
- Must attach Fall, Spring, and/or Summer OU class schedule
Skills:
- Demonstrated customer service experience
- Public speaking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Composition and proofreading
- Ability to maintain and navigate databases
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and interact positively with faculty, staff, students, and parents
- General office skills such as multi-line phone, copying, filing, faxing, and mail
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure
Advertised Physical Requirements:
- Standard office environment
- Occasional bending, lifting, stooping
Work Schedule:
- Must be able to work at least 10 - 15 hours per week
- Start date may vary based on the new hire’s availability
Department Preferences:
- Study abroad experience strongly preferred
- Prefer long-term candidate (through Summer 2026 or beyond but flexible to accommodate)
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior customer service experience
