Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Caceres Lab in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Preventive Medicine (VMPM) is accepting applications for a productive and result-oriented postdoctoral associate. The individual will (1) perform different in vitro and in vivo assays to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of novel vaccines against avian influenza and other viral pathogens. In addition, the individual will engage in the investigation of the pathogenesis and viral-host interactions of influenza and other RNA viruses using multiple molecular biology approaches and ex vivo/in vivo models. The individual will also actively participate in the generation of research manuscripts and reports, and in mentoring personnel in the Caceres Lab. The work will be performed in state-of-the-art labs with advanced equipment and facilities in Ames, IA, and collaborative institutions across the US.

Term: 1 year term with opportunity for renewal based on funding


Required Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Microbiology, molecular biology or related field  


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with ex vivo models in ALI culture.

Experience working with the influenza virus in vitro.

Experience in processing samples from in vivo studies involving influenza or other viral pathogen.

Experience preparing manuscripts, reports, and or other documents of a technical and scientific nature.
