Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) KBVR-FM Productions Director for the Orange Media Network at Oregon State University (OSU).
Summary: The KBVR-FM Productions Director is responsible for coordinating, creating, recording, and uploading all audio production work for KBVR-FM, including public service announcements, grants, station IDs, promos, and other special recordings.
Students in this position will learn communication, critical thinking, professionalism, teamwork and technology

Position Duties
KBVR-FM Productions Director Responsibilities
  • Reach out to campus and community organizations to produce a minimum of two local public service announcements (PSAs) per week: one PSA that represents an organization for the year, followed by event PSAs
  • Work with FM Station Manager to produce announcements for university-wide alerts (including, but not limited to, vaccine clinics, emergency alerts)
  • Help 2-4 DJs record a show specific promos, legal IDs, and show bumpers each term
  • Regularly record new legal IDs
  • Send weekly announcements to DJs about new PSAs, promos, legal IDs or grants
  • Review copy of all PSAs to ensure they are appropriate for KBVR-FM and meet FCC guidelines
  • Produce audio grants each term as they come for each business that underwrites with KBVR-FM
  • Host 1-2 DJ info sessions per term as delegated by the Station Manager
  • Meet with FM Station manager to get contact information for student org leadership, and meet with student org leaders in person to discuss creating PSAs
  • Contribute to Cassette music blog at least once per term
  • Be proficient in the Wide Orbit music scheduling software and Wheatstone equipment in the DJ booth
  • As needed work with Music Director to ingest new music into the rotators and remove outdated music and ensure all tracks are FCC-clean or labeled if they are not FCC-clean
  • Participate in training new DJs as assigned by station manager 
  • Post to KBVR-FM social media as directed by the social media calendar
  • Attend weekly cohort meeting
  • Other duties as assigned by the adviser

Communication
  • Respond to emails, messages and phone calls the same day, professionally representing OMN
  • Notify adviser immediately should any ethical, legal, personnel or controversial problems occur

Collaboration
  • Hold and post regular office hours each week for Orange Media Network, at least half of which should be during regular business hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday). Hours may vary during different stages of the term
  • Follow all OMN policies and procedures and hold all staff and volunteers to them as well
  • Act professionally
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Had been a paid member of staff of the cohort for at least one term
  • Had prior attendance and participation in OMN Training Camp
  • Previous radio or audio production experience
  • Is knowledgeable in live on-air radio operations, including Wide Orbit and Wheatstone equipment in DJ booth
