Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs.
Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our faculty as a Machine Tool Technology Instructor. This position will support our mission to provide high-quality, accessible education and workforce training to our students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining and manufacturing processes, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach a variety of machine tool courses, including manual machining, CNC programming and operation, blueprint reading, and precision measurement.
Develop and update course curricula to reflect current industry standards and emerging technologies.
·Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped laboratory and classroom environment.
·Advise and mentor students regarding academic and career paths in advanced manufacturing.
Collaborate with colleagues, industry partners, and advisory committees to ensure program relevance.
·Participate in college service including committees, assessment, program reviews, and recruitment efforts.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
Diploma in Machine Tool Technology, Precision Machining, or a related field.
Industry experience in machining, including CNC and manual operations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
Commitment to hands-on, student-centered instruction.
Additional Considerations
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related technical or education field.
Prior teaching or training experience at the post-secondary or workforce level.
·Experience with modern CNC equipment, CAM software (e.g., Autodesk, FeatureCam, Fusion 360, etc), and digital manufacturing tools.
Familiarity with NIMS certification standards and curriculum.
Knowledge in Quality Control CMM and PC-DMIS software.
5 years of surface table and dimensional inspection.
5 years of experience in CMM programming.
Understanding and application of GD&T.
Must have expertise in the inner workings or different probe types (Touch probes, sweep probes, and laser, etc.) and how to build and calibrate the probe heads.
Must be knowledgeable with different CMM software types such as PC-Dmis, Modus, Camio, and CMES.
5 years of experience in Non-Destructive Testing
ASNT Level III certification in NDT inspection techniques (Visual, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, Eddy Current, and Radiography).
Must be able to read and understand CMM coding such as. DMI and.PRG languages.
