Position Summary
The School of Professional Studies invites part-time faculty candidates for Lecturer in Criminal Justice. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of part-time faculty members at the university include teaching and professional activities as assigned.
This applicant pool will remain online and be used to hire interested part-time faculty as needed for spring 2026 and potentially summer 2026. Note that part-time faculty are assigned for one term at a time.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare course outlines and teach based on approved departmental syllabi; prepare and deliver consistent, interactive lectures.
  • Design and update course content as needed.
  • Prepare and administer timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
  • Be available outside of class to help students learn and answer their questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or virtually).
  • Adhere to UIW Faculty policies and procedures, including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.
  • Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
  • Maintain contact with the academic affairs team and participate in meetings upon request.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to deliver all instruction online.
    • Ability to effectively learn, use, and incorporate instructional technology into teaching.
    • Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening, and weekend sections as needed.
    • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
    • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
    Required Education
    • Graduate Instruction: Doctorate in Criminal Justice or closely related field, or Doctorate in another discipline with at least 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice or closely related field.
    • Undergraduate Instruction: Master’s Degree s in Criminal Justice or closely related field, or Master’s Degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice or closely related field.
    Required Work Experience
    Experience teaching criminal justice or closely related field in a college or university setting.  Note that relevant training/teaching experience of adult learners in other settings to include law enforcement or significant industry experience in this field will be considered in lieu of required experience.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Experience teaching at the collegiate level.
