Scope of Job
The UTRGV Psychology Clinic is seeking a qualified graduate assistant to join our mental health clinic team during the summer semester, providing high‑quality mental health services and clinical training experiences for graduate students. We serve a diverse population with a strong emphasis on culturally responsive care for disadvantaged communities, supported by practicum training and research opportunities across mental and behavioral health disciplines. Our staff, faculty, and students frequently work bilingually in English and Spanish through collaboration with local agencies, and the ideal candidate will be highly organized, academically strong, and motivated to gain hands‑on experience in clinical operations, data analysis, research support, and community engagement.
Responsibilities

• Assist with office management, including processing referrals, screening clients, and checking in clients using electronic health records.
 • Distribute outcome measures and assist with data entry, organization, and analysis.
 • Analyze clinic outcomes data and develop statistical reports.
 • Assist with managing clinic training materials and didactic content.
 • Provide support to social media outreach and wellness campaigns.
 • Conduct literature searches using library and online research tools.
 • Support research activities, including methodology design and literature review development.
 • Co-author research papers with faculty when applicable.
 • Assist faculty with teaching materials and grading assignments.
Learning Objectives

During the assistantship, the graduate assistant will learn to:
 • Identify common mental health concerns through client screening and assessment.
 • Assess and monitor mental health outcomes for research and treatment evaluation.
 • Demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and research-related data software.
 • Understand management and coordination of mental health services and assist with social media outreach efforts.
 • Develop and maintain procedures for assessing clinical outcomes and making data-informed decisions.
 • Communicate effectively with clinic staff, faculty, and students through professional written and oral communication.
 • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to clinic operations and research tasks.
 • Generate recommendations to enhance service quality and workflow efficiency.
 • Demonstrate cultural humility and professionalism in working with diverse communities and multidisciplinary teams.
 • Exhibit ethical conduct, responsibility, and professionalism in all interactions.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
• Bilingual in Spanish (required)
 • Must be registered and enrolled in a graduate degree program in Psychology, Social Work,   Educational Psychology, Rehabilitation Services or Counseling
 • Minimum 3.0 GPA
 • Strong verbal and written communication skills
 • Preferred experience with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Canva
 • Strong leadership and organizational skills
 • Excellent interpersonal skills and familiarity with social media outreach
 • Basic computer literacy
Preferred Qualifications
Applicant should be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preferred majors: Psychology, Social Work,   Educational Psychology, Rehabilitation Services or Counseling
