Description

The U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) is offering a postdoctoral fellowship at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA).

What will I be doing?

As an ORISE participant, you will join a community of scientists, engineers, and researchers focused on developing medical clinical decision support systems utilizing extended reality technology.  You will participate in various projects utilizing software engineering, human factors usability evaluation, and design/visualization to develop applications that optimize combat casualty care. These projects include augmented/mixed reality systems, headset/sensor evaluations, integration of medical sensors/devices into headsets, and creating innovative solutions for immersive clinical guidance systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to grow their skills in clinical research with an emphasis on novel technology development.

Why should I apply?

Under the guidance of a mentor, you will learn and gain hands-on experience to complement your education and support your academic and professional goals.  Along the way, you will engage in a variety of research activities, including:

  • Conducting human subject research on software usability and clinical performance testing.
  • Developing research experimentations for software application testing
  • Developing scenarios for medical and field testing.
  • Creating, planning and executing research studies.
  • Developing project planning and future proposals.
  • Conducting testing and evaluation of clinical decision support technologies (e.g. mixed reality and virtual reality headset applications)
  • Documenting findings, results, and technical processes in detailed reports and presentations.
  • Disseminating your research through scientific research journals, presentations, and technology demonstrations.

Where will I be located?

San Antonio, Texas
