Position Summary

The Divisional Administrator ? Level III serves as the senior administrative and operational leader for the Division of General Neurology, Epilepsy, Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease, Neuroimmunology, within the Department of Neurology. Reporting to the Division Chief with a dotted-line relationship to the Department Administrator/COO, this role provides strategic leadership, financial oversight, and operational governance across all divisional missions, including patient care, education, research, and faculty affairs. As a trusted executive advisor to physician and departmental leadership, the Divisional Administrator ? Level III drives long-term strategy, financial sustainability, organizational growth, and operational excellence. This role has broad authority to design, implement, and optimize divisional systems, ensuring alignment with departmental, institutional, and enterprise priorities.


Responsibilities

Strategic & Financial Leadership

  • Serve as a principal strategic partner to the Division Chief in defining and executing divisional vision, multi-year strategy, and growth initiatives.
  • Provide executive oversight of divisional financial performance across clinical operations, faculty compensation, research portfolios, and ancillary programs.
  • Lead complex financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning to support expansion, restructuring, and new program development.
  • Collaborate closely with the Department Administrator/COO on physician compensation strategy, academic investment planning, and enterprise alignment.
  • Direct the development, approval, and execution of recruitment, retention, and succession business plans for faculty and senior staff.
  • Oversee sponsored research financial stewardship in partnership with departmental and central research administration leadership.
  • Negotiate, execute, and manage high-value contracts, master service agreements, and vendor partnerships.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost optimization, operational efficiency, and revenue enhancement.
  • Provide final approval authority for divisional expenditures, reimbursements, and annual salary rosters.

Operations & Organizational Management

  • Provide executive oversight of all divisional operations, ensuring scalable, high-performing administrative and clinical support models.
  • Anticipate and proactively resolve complex operational, staffing, and systems-level challenges.
  • Lead divisional space strategy, capital planning, IT coordination, and major renovation or relocation initiatives.
  • Establish and enforce standardized workflows, performance metrics, and best practices across administrative functions.
  • Direct, mentor, and develop senior administrative leaders; build a high-performing, accountable management structure.

Administrative & Human Resources Leadership

  • Partner with HR leadership, VP&S Onboarding, and faculty affairs to oversee appointments, promotions, compensation planning, and credentialing processes.
  • Serve as the senior divisional authority on employee relations, performance management, and organizational culture.
  • Lead workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and change management initiatives.
  • Oversee performance evaluation processes and directly manage senior administrative staff.

Compliance, Risk, & Governance

  • Ensure comprehensive divisional compliance with institutional policies, healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and sponsored research requirements.
  • Interpret, implement, and operationalize institutional SOPs, policies, and regulatory guidance across the division.
  • Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and compliance risks; serve as a key liaison during audits and reviews

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to manage complex operations and financial portfolios.
  • Strong physician relations and leadership communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively navigate and influence all levels of cross-functional leadership
