Job Summary: | The Center for Bioethics and Humanities (CBH) at the University of Colorado is seeking qualified applicants for a full time, tenure eligible faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The primary role and responsibility for this new faculty position will be to conduct extramurally funded research on topics at the intersection of bioethics, health policy and/or the health humanities. We have a special interest in individuals working in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) ethics, law and policy in medical research, education, or clinical care, to complement our growing portfolio of AI related bioethics research. However, we will consider applications from candidates working in other topic areas in bioethics. Working in close collaboration with CBH leadership, CBH faculty and experienced investigators across the University, the successful candidate will be expected to develop and pursue an independent program of empirical research in bioethics. The CBH has a large network of productive inter-professional relationships in place with leading researchers in public health, medicine, health policy, health humanities, and other areas within which the successful candidate can build their own interdisciplinary and collaborative research agenda-- which is essential to launching a successful research career. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to building a welcoming environment for faculty, staff, and students. This includes being active participants in the CBH community and, as applicable, in their affiliated departments, such as attending talks and events, participating in committee work, and developing collaborative projects. The successful candidate will be appointed in an appropriate department(s) based on the candidate’s professional background/training and areas of research interest. | The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: MD/DO
Other Doctorate Degrees
The position includes a start-up package, and the selected individual will have access to high quality mentoring, research support staff, and other institutional resources necessary to successfully build a research career in bioethics. After 3 years the successful candidate will be expected to support 100% of their salary as a principal investigator or co-investigator through a combination of internal grants, extramural grants, or other relevant institutional sources, such as clinical care. The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
