Tutor (Architecture)

(Term time only, equivalent to 37 weeks x 7 hrs per full academic year - There are 2 roles available)

The Manchester School of Architecture is ranked 5th  in the QS world university rankings and enjoys the unique context of being a collaboration between Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester. This specific role is to support the delivery of design studio teaching at undergraduate level in BA1 Architecture studio for one day per week during term time under the direction of the Programme and Year Leaders.

Successful candidates should demonstrate evidence of teaching in Architecture at undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and will be expected to:

• To teach and inspire undergraduate students in architectural design and to conduct associated assessments, utilising a range of methods and techniques in teaching, learning and assessment.
• To provide academic and pastoral support to undergraduate students, and to carry out specific administrative tasks related to the role, maintaining student attendance records, grades, and other required records.

Within the workload allocated to their roles, tutors could potentially be asked to prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate students on topics such as architectural design methods, aesthetics and design, and structures and materials; or to engage in the evaluation and development of units for which they have responsibility, in terms of content, delivery and assessment; or participate in campus and community events and study trips.

Some formal teaching experience is essential and you will also have exceptional inter-personal and communication qualities, excellent organisational and administrative skills, and a collaborative approach to working. We will also look to you to ensure an excellent student experience through the use of relevant and inspiring learning and teaching.

This post is 7 hours a week and so will not support a visa application. Only candidates with the right to work in the UK should apply.
