We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Associate in Economics to join our academic community. You will contribute to high‑quality teaching, assessment and student support at undergraduate level, helping to deliver an excellent learning experience and playing an active role in the wider life of the School. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about teaching, engaging students and supporting their academic development.
In this role, you will:
- Teach undergraduate students through lectures, seminars, tutorials and computer lab sessions.
- Act as a personal tutor, providing academic and pastoral support.
- Supervise undergraduate dissertations in Economics.
- Mark exams and coursework, and support assessment design and delivery.
- Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement aligned with School ambitions.
- Support programme administration, which may include programme development, admissions, unit delivery and liaison with external examiners.
- Participate actively in School and Faculty meetings, seminars and wider governance activities.
- Maintain a proactive approach to your own professional development and scholarship.
You are someone who:
- Has experience teaching Economics effectively in lectures, seminars or small‑group settings.
- Brings a proactive, student‑centred approach to teaching and engagement.
- Has strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Demonstrates initiative in improving student learning and contributing to School activities.
- Communicates clearly and collaborates well with colleagues.
- Is flexible and able to adapt to changing teaching needs.
- Is confident using digital learning tools such as R, Python, Stata or Matlab, and has strong data skills.
- Holds, or will soon complete, a doctorate in a relevant discipline.
Desirable qualities include experience supervising dissertations, blended or digital learning experience, links with accreditation bodies and a recognised HE teaching qualification.
