The University of Salford is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a critical role in optimising the use of estates resources through robust cost management, financial analysis, and commercial assurance.
Estates & Facilities at the University of Salford provides a comprehensive management service that underpins the University’s core objectives in teaching, research, and delivering an exceptional student experience. We are responsible for the stewardship, maintenance, and development of a diverse and complex estate, ensuring a balance between immediate operational needs and long-term priorities such as asset performance, safety, sustainability, and compliance. Our estate is distinctive and reflects the unique character of the University of Salford.
Working across reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance, lifecycle investment, subcontracted services, and capital projects, the post holder will deliver evidence-based insight that supports informed decision making and drives new ways of working. By applying whole life costing principles, benchmarking against sector and industry standards, and constructively challenging established practices, you will help deliver high‑quality, sustainable services that provide value for money and withstand audit and regulatory scrutiny
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with FM Operations, Procurement, and Finance to support informed sourcing decisions, contract strategies, and supply chain performance, ensuring that estates services are delivered efficiently, competitively, and in full alignment with University governance requirements.
Through robust reporting, commercial challenge, and financial insight, you will support new ways of working, effective budget management, audit readiness, and the long-term, sustainable management of the University’s built assets.
