The Ethox Centre is an internationally-recognised multidisciplinary bioethics research centre located within the Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) at the University of Oxford. It is situated in the Big Data Institute on the University’s Old Road Campus. NDPH contains world renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. The Ethox Centre’s global health bioethics research is undertaken in collaboration with a wide range of international partners through the Pandemic Sciences Institute (PSI), the Global Health Bioethics Network, and the Oxford-Johns Hopkins Global Infectious Disease Collaborative (GLIDE).
Reporting to Dr Tess Johnson and working closely with the Ethics, Policy and Context Theme of the PSI, you will develop and deliver an independent research project exploring ethical issues at the intersection of global health and infectious disease. The role-holder will contribute to collaborative publications, present research findings at seminars and conferences and support the wider academic activities of the Ethox Centre and PSI, including mentoring junior researchers and participating in seminars and public engagement activities.
To be considered, you will hold (or be close to completion of) a PhD/DPhil in philosophy, bioethics, medical humanities, or a related discipline, or have equivalent experience. You will have relevant research experience, the ability to manage your own academic research activities and experience contributing to academic publications or presentations. You will also demonstrate excellent communication and collaborative skills with the ability to develop new research ideas and work effectively within interdisciplinary research teams.
The position is full time (part time considered) and fixed term for 2 years.
