About the role
This role supports a multidisciplinary programme investigating the role of the Maresins, a family of pro-resolving lipid mediators, in early cancer development. You will process clinical samples, perform lipid mediator profiling, assist in mechanistic cell-based studies, and contribute to biomarker analyses. Working across WHRI and the Blizard Institute, the post offers cutting-edge facilities, collaborative teams and strong translational impact.
About You
Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, immunology, cancer biology or a related field. Experience in immunobiology, cell signalling, lipid mediator quantitation by mass spectrometry, inflammation research, or sample preparation workflows is advantageous, as is familiarity with molecular biology or flow cytometry. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organisation, meticulous record keeping, critical thinking and effective communication. Confidence in handling scientific data and willingness to develop skills in statistical or multivariate analysis are essential. The postholder will work collaboratively with Prof Jesmond Dalli, Prof Ghassan Alusi, Dr Adrian Biddle and teams across the Lipid Mediator Unit and the Centre for Cell Biology and Cutaneous Research, contributing to a dynamic translational research environment.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The post is based within QMUL’s William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI), a leading UK centre for translational inflammation research, and primarily embedded in the Lipid Mediator Unit (LMU), an internationally recognised hub for SPM biology and advanced mass spectrometry. The LMU offers state-of-the-art lipidomics, method development and biomarker discovery platforms. The postholder will also work closely with teams at the Blizard Institute, benefiting from complementary expertise in cell biology, genomics, immunology and translational science.
