About the Role
Applications are invited for a British Heart Foundation–funded Clinical Fellow post at Barts Heart Centre and the William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London. Supported by a BHF Programme Award, this role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated clinician to pursue academic cardiology in a leading research environment. The Fellow will contribute to the POSSEM trial, using photon-counting coronary CT angiography, advanced imaging, and computational modelling to identify patients at risk of accelerated coronary artery disease and enable more personalised care. The post-holder will work with Professors Christos Bourantas, Francesca Pugliese, and Paul Evans, alongside a Postdoctoral Research Associate, fostering strong collaboration between clinical and translational science.
About You
This position is ideal for a clinician seeking to develop expertise in advanced cardiovascular imaging while contributing to work with clear potential for patient benefit. The research is expected to lead to training to computed tomography and computational modelling and the award of an MD or PhD at Queen Mary University of London and support the development of a future career in academic cardiac imaging.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The William Harvey Research Institute is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in cardiovascular imaging, vascular biology, and genetics, supported by refurbished laboratories and state-of-the-art facilities. Barts Heart Centre, where the fellow will be based, is one of Europe’s largest cardiovascular centres and the UK’s largest cardiac centre. A five-minute walk from WHRI, it enables seamless integration of clinical and research activities within a collaborative translational environment. Located in the City of London near St Paul's Cathedral, Barbican Centre, and Farringdon, the campuses offer excellent transport links and a vibrant cultural setting.
