Applications are invited for a full-time, Professor of Optical Communications or Sensing.

The Aston institute of Photonic Technologies (AiPT) is one of the largest photonics research centres in the UK, pursuing a diverse range of topics at the leading edge including high-speed optical transmission, optical sensing, signal processing, ultra-wide-band amplification, nonlinear photonics, fibre gratings, fibre lasers, bio- and medical photonics, and optical sensing. AiPT is now seeking an outstanding researcher to join AiPT to lead in optical communication or optical sensing areas. 

As the successful applicant you will develop an independent and sustainable research programme and will have demonstrated that their unique capabilities offer synergies with existing AiPT groups, and opportunities to develop new research fields and technologies, with a strong awareness of regional needs. We expect candidates to have a strong and productive track-records of:

This position requires a strong track record in optical communications, optical sensing or neuromorphic computing using photonics.
