Position Description
The Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences (IAMS) at Academia Sinica invites applications for the position of tenure-track or tenured Full/Associate/Assistant Research Fellow specializing in analytical technology developments for biological research. These positions are on par with positions such as principal investigators and university professors. The successful candidate holds a faculty appointment in the Biophysics and Bioanalytical Technology (BBT) group which fosters extensive interdisciplinary collaboration across the fields of physics, chemistry, and life sciences (Institute of Atomic and molecular Sciences - Research / Biophysics and Bioanalytical Technology ). The BBT group also operates a Biophysics Core Facility equipped with the latest instruments to support research in molecular biology and biophysics. IAMS-BBT actively collaborates with institutes within Academia Sinica and leading universities including National Taiwan University. The BBT Group's research is at the forefront of establishing innovative biological study methods, including the creation of new probes for sensing and imaging, the advancement of optical microscopy techniques, mass spectrometry, and NMR spectroscopy.

Applicants will have a PhD or equivalent degree with postdoctoral training. The successful candidates are expected to conduct independent research, demonstrate strong communication skills, and exhibit leadership potential in their respective research communities.

Academia Sinica is a renowned research institution located in Taipei, Taiwan. IAMS serves as a multi-disciplinary center of excellence in fundamental research. Research projects at IAMS span from spectroscopy and molecular dynamics to the fabrication and analysis of advanced materials, biophysics, and the development of analytical tools for biomolecules. Currently, IAMS hosts 26 full-time Research Fellows, one Research Specialist, one Assistant Research Specialist, and eight Adjunct Research Fellows across four research groups: Advanced Materials and Surface Science, Atomic Physics and Optical Science, Biophysics and Bio-analytical Technology, and Chemical Dynamics and Spectroscopy. The Institute accommodates nearly 200 visiting scientists, postdoctoral associates, students, and research assistants, including approximately 90 master's and Ph.D. students. IAMS actively participates in the Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) within Academia Sinica and hosts the Molecular Science and Technology Program (TIGP-MST; https://tigp.iams.sinica.edu.tw/ ) for international graduate students.
