Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated research engineer to join our lab working on the development and application of cutting-edge spatial and single-cell omics technologies. The research engineer will perform experiments leveraging Spatial Transcriptomics (ST), Spatial metaTranscriptomics (SmT), and single-cell multiomics across diverse biological systems, including animal and plant tissues. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to method development and experimental workflows in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.

The research engineer will be based at SciLifeLab (Science for Life Laboratory) Stockholm & KTH, Department of Gene Technology, and will be supervised by Associate Professor Stefania Giacomello.

Examples of tasks:

  • Design, perform, and optimize experimental workflows for ST, SmT and single-cell multiomics
  • Prepare and process animal and plant tissue samples for spatial and sequencing-based assays
  • Perform molecular biology techniques (e.g., library preparation, RNA handling, PCR amplification, etc.)
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and ensure high-quality experimental output
  • Troubleshoot experimental procedures and improve robustness and reproducibility
  • Document experiments and manage data in a structured and reproducible manner
  • Collaborate with experimental and computational team members to support data generation and interpretation
  • Contribute to the implementation of new technologies and lab workflows
