Postdoctoral position in Electrical Engineering focusing on Circuit Design (PA2026/1012)

Updated: about 17 hours ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 06 May 2026

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 46 000 students and 8 500 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Description of the workplace

The research in the Division for Integrated Electronic Systems (IES) at the Department for Electrical and Information Technology (EIT) is a balanced effort combining system and circuit design aspects. We design integrated circuits (chips) in advanced nanometer CMOS and other related technologies. The target chips include digital signal processors, radio frequency and millimeter wave frontends, data converters, as well as larger systems with a mixture of analog and digital signals.

Our dynamic team includes teachers, researchers, and administrative staff, offering a rich intellectual environment for collaboration. We offer a supportive work environment, promoting work-life balance and professional growth. New employees can engage in cutting-edge research, educational initiatives, and industry collaborations, contributing to our mission of advancing integrated circuits and systems design.

We are now looking for a new employee in the form of a postdoctoral fellow in Electrical Engineering focusing on Circuit Design for signal conditioning in harsh operating conditions.

Project description

This position is also closely related to the Vinnova competence Centre for III-nitride technology, C3NiT (c3nit.se).
The project involves designing advanced circuits and systems based on III-V and CMOS process technologies for signal amplification, conditioning, sampling, and wireless data transfer for sensing systems that operate in harsh environmental conditions, e.g., high temperature.

 Work duties

The main duties involved in a post-doctoral position is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20% of working hours. The position includes the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning. The purpose of the position is to develop the independence as a researcher and to create the opportunity of further development.

The position requires undertaking the design and implementation of the analog and mixed signal frontend and, in particular, amplifiers, filters, signal conversion, and wireless connectivity solution for advanced sensing systems for industrial applications.

The work also covers production, measurement and characterization of the high-performance circuits implemented in III-V (e.g., GaN) and CMOS process technologies. You will become involved in a multi-disciplinary project which has several academic and industrial partners with the task to address important challenges for real-world application scenarios.

Detailed description of the work duties:

  • Research within the subject area.
  • Teaching in the first, second and third cycles of studies.
  • Collaboration with industry, other academic partners and wider society.
  • Measurement and characterization of the developed solutions in the lab or industrial environment.
  • Publication of the results at/in renowned conferences and journals relevant to the field.
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above.

Qualification requirements

Appointment to a postdoctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position. The certificate proving the qualification requirement is met, must be received before the employment decision is made. Priority will be given to candidates who have graduated no more than three years ago before the last day for application. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.

Additional requirements:

  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge and experience about various front-end and data conversion circuit architectures.
  • Experience with theoretical and practical aspects of discrete and integrated circuits, including system design for signal conditioning and wireless connectivity.
  • Experience with measurement techniques and instruments for evaluation of integrated circuits.

Assessment criteria

This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.

For appointments to a postdoctoral position, the following shall form the
assessment criteria:

  • A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research.
  • Teaching skills.

Other qualifications:

  • Knowledge of requirements within wireless transceiver systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of various frontend and data transformation architectures.
  • Experience in theoretical and practical aspects of discrete and integrated circuits, including system design for signal conditioning and wireless connectivity.
  • Experience with measurement techniques and instruments for evaluating integrated circuits.

Consideration will also be given to how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
