Offer Description

Project description

Third-cycle subject: Biotechnology

Our lab is seeking a PhD student to apply antibody-based, multiplexed imaging tools to develop spatiotemporal protein maps of human cells and tissues, within the framework of the Human Protein Atlas (HPA). The project focuses on understanding dynamic protein regulation and cell morphology in response to cellular perturbations and activation.

Our research focuses on spatial proteomics and cell biology, bridging bioimaging and proteomics to explore fundamental aspects of human cell biology at the single-cell level. Using an antibody-based approach, we systematically investigate how human proteins are distributed in time and space, how variations in their localization contribute to cell type specificity, and how deviations in protein localization may lead to disease.

In this project, you will develop and apply cutting-edge tools and machine learning techniques to model spatial multi-omics data. The aim is to advance our understanding of protein dynamics at the single-cell level and contribute to a broader understanding of cellular processes. You will also use computational image analysis to study variations in protein spatiotemporal expression patterns in relation to the perturbations and other deterministic factors.

The starting date is open for discussion, though ideally, we would like the successful candidate to start as soon as possible. The placement for this PhD position will be at Science for Life Laboratory in Solna in Stockholm, Sweden(https://www.scilifelab.se ), a national centre for molecular biosciences with focus on health and environmental research

Supervision: Prof. Emma Lundberg and Dr. Diana Mahdessian is proposed to supervise the doctoral student. Decisions are made on admission
