Offer Description
The Institute of Measurement of the Slovak Academy of Sciences is seeking a postdoctoral researcher or an experienced researcher to join the Department of Theoretical Methods.
We welcome candidates with expertise in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, biomedical engineering, or related fields, whose interests fit the department’s theoretical and methodological research profile.
Applicants may join one of the existing teams or pursue their own research project or vision relevant to the department’s profile.
The department develops mathematical, statistical, and computational methods for the analysis of complex systems, signals, measurement data, and biomedical data. Current research topics include:
- causal analysis in time series
- complex systems and networks, chaos, and fractal-based methods,
- EEG analysis, computational neuroscience, and brain-computer interfaces,
- machine learning and deep learning,
- statistical modelling, regression methods, and uncertainty quantification,
- calibration, interlaboratory comparisons, and theoretical statistical methods for biomedical and technical applications.

Specific Requirements
Applicants should have:
- a PhD in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, biomedical engineering, or a related field,
- ability to conduct independent research,
- experience with mathematical modelling, statistical data analysis, or computational methods,
- strong publication potential,
- good command of English,
- programming skills in MATLAB, Python, R, Julia, or similar.
Experience in one or more of the following is an advantage: time series analysis, signal processing, machine learning, EEG analysis, computational neuroscience, regression modelling, uncertainty quantification, metrology, or measurement science.

The gross monthly base salary is determined by the applicable public research salary scale, depending on qualifications and seniority. The base salary ranges from EUR 1,639 to EUR 2,297.50 and may be supplemented by substantial additional remuneration, depending on agreement, research performance, and involvement in funded projects and grants.
