Łukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics (Łukasiewicz-IMiF) conducts the research and development in the field of advanced microelectronic and photonic technologies. It has unique technological laboratories and intellectual capital that enable it to undertake the scientific work and run the projects aimed at increasing the innovation of Polish enterprises, simultaneously creating a high-tech knowledge environment in the field of innovative materials’ production along with the technology and design of microelectronics and photonic devices, gallium nitride technology, LTCC technology, printed electronics and medical and environmental sensors. Łukasiewicz–IMiF runs numerous projects financed from domestic and foreign funds annually, the goals of which are to increase the innovation of the Polish economy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Independently design, execute, and analyze MBE and/or MOCVD epitaxial processes for III–V compound semiconductor device heterostructures.
  • Characterize semiconductor layers and heterostructures, interpret measurement results, and implement process and recipe adjustments to optimize epitaxial growth.
  • Provide technical ownership of MBE/MOCVD reactors and supporting equipment, including routine monitoring and coordination of maintenance.
  • Contribute to the design of new heterostructures, refinement of growth recipes, and troubleshooting of process- and equipment-related issues in MBE/MOCVD technology.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, scientific publications, and patent applications.
  • Represent the organization as an epitaxy expert at conferences, workshops, and industry events.
  • Participate in the acquisition and execution of R&D and commercial projects, including joint projects with industrial partners.
  • Collaborate with industrial and academic partners in Poland and abroad.
  • Mentor and support junior team members in the field of MBE/MOCVD epitaxy.

Skills/Qualifications
  • Master’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in the R&D sector, or a PhD degree.
  • Preferred: at least 4 years of hands-on experience working with MBE and/or MOCVD systems.
  • Authorship or co‑authorship of at least three publications in journals listed by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW), including at least one publication in a 140‑ or 200‑point journal or a journal ranked in the SCOPUS TOP 10%.
  • Authorship or co‑authorship of at least two contributions (poster, oral communication, talk, or invited lecture) presented at international scientific or industry conferences.
  • Participation in at least two R&D projects financed from institutional funding, grants, commissioned tasks, or external (national or international) sources, including at least one project focused on implementation or commercialization; documented evidence of carrying out a defined part of the work independently.
  • Very good knowledge of epitaxial growth physics and semiconductor material characterization techniques.
  • Very good command of English (minimum B2 level).
  • Proactive attitude, high degree of independence and reliability, and strong teamwork skills in a project‑based environment.
