The candidate is expected to conduct scientific research and publish the results, actively seek grants, conduct teaching activities for students in this field with dedication, and engage in the organizational work of the Department, Faculty and University.
The scope of scientific topics includes optical spectroscopy of novel semiconductor materials and heterostructures (van der Waals (vdV) crystals and hybrid structures vdW crystal/III-V semiconductor).

- A doctoral degree in physical sciences or related field, conferred not earlier than in 2022 (with possible extension due to parental leaves and similar); candidates who have submitted their dissertation and will receive the degree at least 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the contract are also eligible.

Tasks:
- Conducting scientific research in accordance with the research profile specified in the position description.
- Teaching activities in the field of basic physics, characterization of semiconductor materials and similar.
- Collaboration with external institutions, including foreign entities, in the scope of ongoing scientific and research work.

- Preparation of grant applications.
- Performing tasks assigned by superiors for the Department, Faculty, and University related to research and teaching activities.

Planned date of employment: between 1st July 2026 and 1st March 2027.
Employment period and salary:
Candidates without previous employment at Wrocław Tech are offered a contract for 3 years with possible extension to permanent position upon evaluation of achievements. Otherwise, the offer depends on the employment history. Extension may be conditioned on the readiness to teach in Polish.
The salary consists of the basic salary, a seniority bonus of 1% for each year of service, and 4% for completing doctoral studies. Additional bonuses are provided for scientific and research work efficiency, an extra annual bonus equivalent to one month's salary, and potential supplements for organizational involvement.
We offer a basic salary in the range of 8070 to 9140 PLN.

The competition is open to candidates who meet the conditions set forth in the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2022, item 574, as amended), in the Statute of Wrocław University of Science and Technology and in the Code of Ethics Employees of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
Before establishing an employment relationship with the person who wins the competition, Wrocław University of Science and Technology will conduct a verification in accordance with the provisions of the Act of May 13, 2016, on preventing threats related to sexual crimes and protecting minors. The data necessary for this verification (PESEL number, or in its absence, maiden name, father's name, mother's name, and date of birth) will be obtained solely from the selected individual and should not be provided during the application stage.

Applications of candidates will be considered by the evaluation committee. Applications satisfying the conditions of the competition will be evaluated using the following criteria (see evaluation criteria available at https://wppt.pwr.edu.pl/pracownicy/konkursy for more details):
Stage I. Completeness of the application. Degree in the required discipline.
Stage II. Evaluation of candidates on the base of submitted documentation in the categories:
- MODULE 1 (weight 35%),
- MODULE 2 (weight 20%),
- MODULE 3 (weight 5%)
- MODULE 4 (weight 5%)
- Research plan (weight 35%).
The committee can pre-select candidates based on the evaluation results in Modules 1 and 2, if the number of candidates is very large.
Stage III. An interview including the presentation of previous scientific activity and planned scientific research. Candidates selected based on the first stage of evaluation are invited to the interview. The first part of the interview is a seminar talk open to the Faculty members (30 minutes + 15 minutes discussion), followed by a discussion with the committee members only.
The evaluation committee decides on the recommendation of the candidates and on their positions on the ranking list based on the evaluation of applications and the interview.
The University stipulates that the competition may remain unresolved without giving reasons.
