Offer Description
The competitive selection process is open for all individuals, who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116.2.2) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science, and who meet the following eligibility criteria according to § 163 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University:
- holding at least a doctoral degree;
- having significant and creative achievements in scientific, professional or artistic work;
- having achievements in organisational work;
having achievements in teaching work;
1. A significant body of scientific work comprising major publications in the fields of microbiology and immunology, including those relating to septic and aseptic inflammatory conditions:
a. co-authorship of at least 25 publications following the award of a doctoral degree, with a combined Impact Factor (IF) of the journals in which the publications appeared amounting to at least 150, including at least four experimental publications in journals listed in the ISI Web of Science, in which the candidate (M/F) is the corresponding author; provided that these may not be the publications listed in point b;
b. a scientific monograph or a series of at least four thematically related articles published in scientific journals in which the candidate (K/M) is the first author or co-first author, or the corresponding author or co-corresponding author, provided that the basis for applying for the position of university professor cannot be the academic achievement on which the doctoral degree was awarded, nor publications on which employment as an assistant professor was based;
c. a Hirsch index for the entire body of work of at least 20.
2. Documented experience in securing research funding: having led at least three research projects, funded from external sources through competitive grants, over the last 10 years.
3. Experience in researching the regulation of gene expression in inflammatory processes, particularly in the study of epigenetic processes.4. Teaching experience, evidenced by the award of at least 30 points for the training of academic staff, including:
a. acting as a supervisor in a doctoral programme leading to the award of a degree – 12 points,
b. acting as a co-supervisor in a doctoral programme resulting in the award of a degree – 10 points,
and additionally:
c. acting as a supervisor or co-supervisor in an open doctoral programme – 2 points,
d. acting as a supervisor for a Master’s thesis – 1 point.
5. At least 12 months’ experience at a university or institution other than the one awarding the doctoral degree.
6. Experience in collaborating with foreign research centres.
7. Documented fluency in spoken and written Polish.
8. Fluency in English, confirmed by a certificate or experience of working in foreign research centres.
9. Experience in working with in vitro models of bacterial infections.
10. Practical knowledge of methods for culturing eukaryotic cells and mammalian cell lines, as well as the isolation, differentiation and culture of primary cells, and microbiological techniques, including the culture of anaerobic bacteria.
11. Practical knowledge of techniques in immunology, cell biology and molecular biology, in particular: viability assays, immunoenzymatic assays, qPCR, flow cytometry, and experience in studying cellular signalling pathways

Selection process
The first stage of the selection procedure is the formal assessment of the submitted documents. Applications which meet all formal requirements are the subject of substantive assessment, during which an interview with the Candidate (F/M) may be conducted (directly or via electronic communication channels), upon settling the date of the interview with the Candidate (F/M). During the interview, the soft competencies indicated in the announcement will also be verified.
The Candidate (F/M) has the right to appeal against the negative assessment by the selection board within 7 days from receiving the information about the results of the assessment.
The selection procedure is conducted in accordance with The Policy of Open, Transparent and Merit-Based Recruitment Process at the Jagiellonian University .
