Offer Description

The selected candidate (M/F) employed as an assistant professor will be required to conduct research, teaching, and organizational activities for the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences and the Warsaw University of Technology. He or she will be required to conduct classes in Polish and must also be prepared to conduct classes in English (or another foreign language). In addition, the candidate's duties will include involvement in the academic life of the Faculty and the Department of Administrative Law and Public Policy: publishing articles in the field of legal sciences in peer-reviewed journals and scientific publications of national and international reach, applying for research projects in competitions announced by national and foreign institutions financing science, active participation in national and international scientific life (conferences, research internships).

Skills/Qualifications
  • conduct classes (including in Polish and English) for the Faculty and the Warsaw University of Technology;
  • conducting scientific activities within the scope of research carried out in the scientific discipline of legal sciences at the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences,
  • submitting research proposals in competitions announced by the National Science Centre, the National Centre for Research and Development, the European Research Council, or other national or international agencies funding scientific research, in each subsequent available edition of the competition, until funding is obtained; improving grant applications,
  • performing organizational duties resulting from individual task assignments and the organizational needs of the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences,
  • actively participating in the scientific life of the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences and the Warsaw University of Technology,
  • submitting a written statement authorizing the Warsaw University of Technology to demonstrate scientific achievements for the purposes of evaluating the quality of scientific activity in the discipline of legal sciences.

  • Specific Requirements

    Candidates (M/F) participating in the competition are required to:

  • completion of higher education and attainment of the professional title of Master of Laws or a title equivalent to the Master of Laws awarded in Poland,
  • a doctoral degree in legal sciences or a degree equivalent to the doctoral degree in legal sciences awarded in Poland,
  • academic specialization in constitutional law, the theory and practice of lawmaking,
  • high‑quality academic output in the discipline of legal sciences, which—according to the generally applicable principles for evaluating the quality of scientific activity—will be sufficient to maintain the scientific category of this discipline at the Warsaw University of Technology at a level not lower than the current one,
  • teaching experience in Polish or English in law‑related subjects delivered in the form of lectures or classes at a higher‑education institution, or in postgraduate studies in the fields of: constitutional law, foundations of jurisprudence, principles of lawmaking, legislative drafting techniques, legislation, regulatory impact assessment,
  • documented professional experience related to the practice of lawmaking,
  • proficiency in English sufficient for teaching students in this language and for international academic cooperation; such proficiency may also be demonstrated through documented conference presentations in English or documented teaching conducted in this language.

    Eligibility criteria

    Additional advantages will include:

  • a post‑doctoral degree in legal sciences or a degree equivalent to the post‑doctoral degree in legal sciences awarded in Poland,
  • documented international academic achievements in the form of:(a) publications in foreign scientific journals included in the current ministerial list of peer‑reviewed, point‑scored scientific journals, and (b) Level II monographs included in the current ministerial list of publishers of peer‑reviewed scientific monographs,
  • documented research cooperation with foreign academic institutions,
  • experience in teaching in engineering‑profile study programmes,
  • documented international teaching achievements or documented experience in conducting classes in English,
  • documented experience in leading or participating as a principal researcher in projects awarded in competitions organized by the NCN, NCBiR, ERC, or other national or international science‑funding agencies.

  • Selection process

    The Competition Committee, appointed by the Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology, reviews all applications submitted in response to the competition, based on the documentation provided. The Committee reserves the right to conduct interviews with selected candidates. 

    Following its deliberations, the Competition Committee may recommend a candidate for employment or declare that none of the applicants meet the required qualifications.

    The Committee communicates the outcome of the competition to the Dean, providing a detailed justification of its decision.

    The result of the competition procedure, along with the rationale, is announced and made publicly available for a period of 30 days through the following channels:

  • Official notice boards at the Warsaw University of Technology,
  • The University’s Public Information Bulletin (BIP) website,
  • The website of the Ministry supervising higher education institutions.
  • The final result of the competition, including the Committee’s justification, is submitted to the Rector by the Dean of the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences.

    The recommendation issued by the Competition Committee constitutes a formal prerequisite for initiating the employment procedure. This procedure is launched by the Dean of the Faculty.
