The Department of Analysis and Stochastic Processes at the Faculty of Pure and Applied Mathematics of Wrocław University of Science and Technology is seeking a candidate for the position of assistant professor (Polish: adiunkt) in the research and teaching staff group in the discipline of mathematics. The person hired for this position will be responsible for research, teaching, and organizational duties for the Department of Analysis and Stochastic Processes, the Faculty of Pure and Applied Mathematics, and Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Skills/Qualifications

— a doctoral degree in the discipline of mathematics;

 — significant scientific achievements in mathematics, evidenced by articles published in international scientific journals within the last five years (this period is extended for maternity, parental, and similar types of leave);

 — teaching competence in conducting courses in mathematics or related disciplines;

 — very good command of English, both spoken and written;

 — experience in research on the statistics of stochastic processes will be an additional advantage;

 — as teaching at the Faculty of Mathematics is conducted mainly in Polish, proficiency in Polish will be regarded as an additional asset in the evaluation of candidates;

 — we expect the candidate to achieve a level of Polish proficiency sufficient to conduct classes in Polish within a two-year period.

A copy of the Ph.D. diploma (original document for review).

Self-referral informing about interests and achievements in scientific and research, teaching and organizational activities, including: a concise description of scientific achievements; a list of publications; the total number of citations of scientific works with the source of these data; a list of implemented scientific and research, development and implementation projects; a list of scientific and professional awards and distinctions - the above documents should be signed by the candidate.

Selection process

A successful candidate will be selected by the hiring committee (the committee is not bound to select a candidate; in this case the competition remains unresolved).

If a candidate is selected, Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics will present the candidate to the Council of the Scientific Discipline of Mathematics which then votes on recommending the candidate for hiring to the Rector.

On the basis of this voting, the Rector of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology makes the final decision to hire the candidate.
