Offer Description

We invite applications for the position of assistant among the research and teaching staff at the Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science at AGH University of Krakow. The research work concerns the preparation and analysis of simulation data, work on the design of medical phantoms with high spatial granularity, participation in the preparation, execution of experiments on a therapeutic photon beam and application of atomic and molecular spectroscopy methods as well as microscopic techniques to investigate the physicochemical properties of biological and material systems. The responsibilities include participation in the design and implementation of experiments, analysis of spectroscopic and imaging data and interpretation of the results.

23 months full-time employment starts in October 2026.

Basic salary no less than PLN 7 000.00 (gross).

The target department in which the candidate will work will be determined after the competition, according to the candidate’s expertise.

  • aptitude for research and teaching work,
  • confirmed active participation in student scientific activities or documented scientific achievements                 resulting from university studies, doctoral school, doctoral studies, or professional work,
  • knowledge in a) the analysis of experimental data collected using photon therapy devices, advanced machine learning techniques and HPC environments or b) in experience in the preparation of biological material and the application of spectroscopic methods in studies of cells and tissues, as well as in the analysis and interpretation of spectroscopic and imaging data,
  • readiness to conduct classes in both Polish and English in a) the basics of computer science and physical simulations or b) in instrumental methods, biospectroscopy, nanotechnology and general physics,
  • knowledge of English (B2 level at least),
  • knowledge of the Polish language at the C1 level, if it is not the mother tongue.
  • Additional requirements: 

  • experience in scientific and teaching work,
  • a doctorate or a doctoral dissertation submitted in the discipline of Physical sciences or in a related discipline.

    Scientific achievements, with particular emphasis on the candidate’s contribution to scientific publications (up to 35 points)

     

    Competence in a) analyzing experimental data collected using photon therapy devices, advanced machine learning techniques and HPC environments or b) in the preparation of biological material and the application of spectroscopic methods in studies of cells and tissues, as well as in the analysis and interpretation of spectroscopic and imaging data (up to 30 points)

     

    Experience / readiness to conduct classes a) in basic computer science and physical simulations or b) in instrumental methods, biospectroscopy, nanotechnology and general physics (up to 35 points)
