About the position

NHH in Bergen, Norway, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in energy transition research, with a focus on the role of hydropower in the future Norwegian and European energy system. The position will be financed by RenewHydro which is a centre for environment-friendly energy research (FME), financed by the Research Council of Norway. The main objective of the centre is to provide knowledge and solutions that enable flexible hydropower to support the energy transition and reach national energy, climate and nature targets. The postdoctoral position will contribute to a project that will develop and analyse computational models for electricity markets, the power system and hydro power scheduling. The position will be affiliated with the ENE Centre at the Department of Business and Management Science at NHH.
The centre offers a research environment with a strong publication record, good career development opportunities and excellent academic networks as well as close cooperation with industry and the government. The centre consists of PhD candidates, young academics and senior researchers working on economic theory, applied econometrics, finance, optimisation, decision-making and policy. The centre and the department together are a partner in several large, technology-oriented research projects that focus on energy transition and sustainability.

The duration of the position is three years. The department seeks ambitious candidates early in their careers. Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD degree in a business-oriented field such as management science, operations research, finance or economics from a recognised business school or university. The ability to engage in discussions on applied research with industry partners will be emphasised.

The Department of Business and Management Science has high ambitions in terms of research and offers a stimulating work environment. The main activities are organised in five broad research areas: i) Managerial Economics and Business Strategy ii) Business Taxation iii) Asset Management and Risk Analysis iv) Energy Markets, Resource Management and Sustainability v) Shipping, Logistics and Operations Management.
