About FGSES - AIRESS:
The African Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences (AIRESS) is a research institution based at the Faculty of Governance, Economics and Social Sciences, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat/Morocco. 

The Faculty has four main disciples: economics, political science, international relations, and behavioral science for public policies. It is one of the most fast-growing academic institutions in Africa with the aim to fostering research and teaching in Africa and from African perspectives. Assistant/Associate Professor of Public Law – UMP6 RABAT – FGSES - AIRESS 
The Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences (AIRESS), Faculty of Governance, Economics and Social Sciences (FGSES), Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor of Public Law.

Profile Sought
We are seeking for candidates with a strong expertise in the fundamentals of public law, including constitutional law, administrative law, public institutions, and legal theory,  with a particular emphasis on public governance and contemporary transformations of the state.

A comparative perspective is essential. We particularly welcome scholars whose research engages with legal systems across different regions, especially those working on or with reference to the Global South.
The Faculty encourages applications from candidates who demonstrate:

  • A solid grasp of the fundamental doctrines and principles of public law
  • A research agenda addressing issues of public governance, state transformation, institutional reforms, or public accountability
  • A comparative and/or transnational approach to public law
  • A strong interest in legal developments in the Global South, including African contexts
  • A demonstrated openness to critical approaches to law (e.g., critical legal studies, postcolonial theory, socio-legal approaches)
  • A commitment to interdisciplinary dialogue

An international academic experience (research, teaching, visiting appointments, joint projects) is highly desirable.

A postdoctoral experience is also strongly encouraged.
Qualifications
Candidates must:

  • Hold a PhD in Law prior to the start of the contract
  • Demonstrate excellence in research through publications in reputable academic outlets
  • Present a clear and promising research agenda
  • Show strong pedagogical abilities

Applications from candidates currently holding a position of Assistant or Associate Professor are welcome.

Teaching Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in public law and public governance
  • Supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s dissertations and, where applicable, PhD theses
  • Contribute to executive education and policy-oriented training programs

The teaching language 
The teaching language is either French or English, or both.

Our state-of-the-art facilities in the Faculty of Governance, Economics and Social Sciences (FGSES) are in Rabat. The Kingdom’s capital offers easy access to scholars interested in conducting field research in Africa and the Middle East. In addition, Rabat offers a good quality of life, a moderate weather all year round, and direct flights to most African and European capitals.

The first virtual interviews will start as soon as we receive relevant applications. The shortlisted candidates will have an initial interview with the Recruitment Committee. Candidates selected after this interview will then be invited to present their research work and publications (60 minutes) and a course simulation (60 minutes) before the same Committee.
