Offer Description

As society becomes increasingly dependent on interconnected digital and cyber-physical systems, cybersecurity has emerged as a foundational enabler of trust, safety, and resilience across critical infrastructures, smart cities, industry, and public services. Ensuring the security and resilience of smart, data-driven, and autonomous systems is therefore a key scientific and societal challenge.

In this context, the Institute of Information Technology Faculty of Computer Science, Information Technology and Energy  (FCSITE) at Riga Technical University invites applications for a Tenured Professor to join its expanding cybersecurity team within the indicative research theme of Smart Systems Cybersecurity.

The Institute conducts internationally recognised research in three core areas: data and information security, network security, and progressive methods in cybersecurity education.

The successful candidate will strengthen and expand the university’s research and teaching capacity in cybersecurity, with a particular focus on complex smart systems, including (but not limited to) cyber-physical systems, industrial and IoT environments, intelligent infrastructures, and AI-enabled platforms. The position holder is passionate about cutting-edge cybersecurity research, combines a strong research profile in cybersecurity with an enthusiasm for academic collaboration, creativity, and excellence within an internationally oriented research environment.

The position offers a unique opportunity to play a strategic role in shaping cybersecurity research and education at Riga Technical University. The appointed professor will be expected to develop new research directions and establish a research team in the field of Smart Systems Cybersecurity, while actively contributing to the development of a new master’s study programme in advanced cybersecurity and leading the design of lifelong learning courses focused on smart systems.
