Riga Technical University, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, invites applications for a Full Professor position in Chemical Engineering and its Interdisciplinary Fields with guaranteed centralized funding for the initial six‑year appointment period, and the possibility of renewal based on performance and institutional needs.

Eligibility criteria

Qualification requirements:

• Hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field;
• Demonstrate strong potential in both research and education;
• Have experience in teaching and supervision at all study levels, with at least 3 supervised PhD students;
• Possess excellent communication skills in written and spoken English;
• at least 3 (three) years of experience in the position of an associate professor or professor and internationally recognized experience in the area of specialization.

Selection process

To apply for this position, the candidate must submit the following documents (in English), signed in accordance with one of the accepted formats listed below, and sent to the Personnel Department of Riga Technical University at tenure@rtu.lv .

Another qualified electronic signature compliant with Regulation (EU) No. 910/2014 (eIDAS);

If the applicant does not have access to a qualified electronic signature, the application may be submitted as a scanned copy of a handwritten signed document.

Required documents:

Application addressed to the RTU Rector for participation in the competition (using the RTU standard form).

Cover letter outlining the candidate’s vision regarding the goals to be achieved (using the RTU standard form).

Research plan for the long term (6 years), prepared according to the required format (using the RTU standard form).

Curriculum Vitae, prepared in accordance with Annex 2 of the RTU Regulation “On Tenured Professorship at Riga Technical University” (using the RTU standard form), including information on research, teaching, and organizational experience, a summary of work results, professional development activities, and a list of publications for the last 6 years.

Copies of documents certifying the acquisition of scientific and academic degrees.

For foreign candidates – if the study programme in which the tenured professor will be involved is delivered in the state language (Latvian) and/or state language proficiency is required for the performance of work duties, a document certifying state language competence in accordance with the Law on the State Language must be submitted. In other cases, the candidate undertakes to acquire basic competence in the state language during the first year of their tenure at RTU (in accordance with Annex 3 of the RTU Regulation).

Available references regarding the candidate’s previous work, if such references exist, including references or recommendations from cooperation partners, employers, or professional associations; results of student surveys on teaching quality; and information on awards or recognitions.
