Riga Technical University (RTU) invites applications for a professor in Computer Science and Informatics  at the Institute of Digital Humanities Faculty of Computer Science, Information Technology and Energy (FCSITE); an indicative research theme: Interdisciplinary Human(IT)ies Data Research.

 

This is a professor position at RTU with a guaranteed centralized funding for a six-year full appointment . After the six-year appointment, further employment and funding of the position are expected to be supported through the institute’s funding portfolio, including competitive research projects, teaching-related resources, and other institutional funding sources, in accordance with RTU regulations.

 

The Institute of Digital Humanities is the regional leader pioneering interdisciplinary academic research excellence in the fields of Digital Humanities and Interdisciplinary Human(IT)ies Data, aiming at expanding the scientific research frontiers.

 

The Institute is pleased to invite the internationally recognized senior or lead researcher to join our team as a professor and explore the research areas of Human(IT)ies Data Diversity, Language Data and Technology, Edutainment and Interactive/Immersive Learning Design (the list is not exhaustive).

 

We envisage the candidate to expand and consolidate both the research and training capacity of the Institute in Human(IT)ies Data, providing a clear development strategy in line with RTU and personal KPIs, addressing the emerging mainstream challenges associated with interdisciplinary multimodal and intermedial data processing, data management and research.

Skills/Qualifications

We expect the candidate to:

  • Explore and develop novel research areas in line with and beyond the Human(IT)ies Data;
  • Set up and inspire a research team in the fields of Human(IT)ies Data Diversity, Language Data and Technology, Edutainment and Interactive/Immersive Learning Design (the list is not exhaustive);
  • Conduct high-impact research, addressing both knowledge gaps and societal challenges;
  • Engage and lead state-of-the-art research initiatives;
  • Attract external research funding, by contributing to, managing and implementing grant proposals and research projects;
  • Participate in the implementation of a novel Bachelor study programme in Language Data and Technology;
  • Contribute to implementing training and supervising activities within the Master study programme in Digital Humanities;
  • Supervise the development of Doctoral and Master Theses;
  • Promote international academic and scientific cooperation by representing RTU both at the national and international events.

Specific Requirements

We invite candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD) in Digital Humanities, Interdisciplinary Computer Science or related discipline;
  • At least (3) three years of experience in the position of associate professor, professor, or an equivalent experience in a corresponding position, and internationally recognized experience in interdisciplinary Human(IT)ies Data research, Digital Humanities, or a related field;
  • Documented experience in securing external funding;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Advanced soft-skills, scientific curiosity and readiness to engage in a highly interdisciplinary environment;
  • Advanced teambuilding and teamwork skills;
  • Full professional proficiency in English;
  • Fulfilment of all additional eligibility criteria and requirements for the position, in accordance with RTU regulations (see Annex 1 of the RTU Regulation “On Tenured Professorship at Riga Technical University ”, which sets the applicable requirements for this position)*.

A permanent tenured position with a gross salary of EUR 6,050 per month for a full-time position.  

 

Opportunities to increase overall remuneration are available through attracting and leading externally funded research projects, in accordance with project conditions and RTU regulations.
