We are seeking a highly motivated Specially Appointed Assistant Professor to join the research group of Prof. Hao LI at Advanced Institute for Materials Research (AIMR), Tohoku University.
The Li group operates the AI-Driven Intelligent High-Throughput Experimental Laboratory.
The successful candidate will be responsible for Control Systems, Automation & Software for Automated Experimental Systems in Material Science. They will focus on hardware control, robotics integration, and software development for automated experimental systems used in high-throughput research.

●Develop and maintain control systems for automated laboratory equipment and robotic platforms
●Demonstrated ability in system integration of hardware, software, and experimental workflows.
●Program and integrate:
- PLC systems
- Microcontrollers (MCUs)
- Robotics and motion control
- Sensors
●Develop laboratory control software:
- Front-end interfaces (e.g., Vue.js)
- Backend systems (Python, Java, or equivalent)
●Coordinate with hardware teams to align control systems with physical automation
●Support 3D printing and rapid prototyping for custom mechanical components
