The Nursing Course, School of Medicine, Yokohama City University (YCU), is the only public higher education institution for nursing in Yokohama. With a perspective grounded in community and societal needs, the department aims to contribute through advanced expertise in nursing science. In education, we foster research capabilities that enhance nursing practice and scholarship, improve the quality of nursing within health, medical, and welfare systems, and cultivate leaders who contribute to a prosperous society.
The Field of Clinical Nursing Science, part of Basic Nursing Sciences, collaborates with Fundamental Nursing to provide the foundation for specialized courses. It focuses on nursing techniques and theories, daily living assistance, medical support, and evidence-based physical assessment. The curriculum emphasizes a hospitality mindset and incorporates nursing management perspectives. Students also apply ICT tools and data analysis through the ADEPT (Advanced Data-driven Education Program for Transformation) program to develop evidence-based competencies. Clinical training at two affiliated hospitals further cultivates foundational attitudes, rationales, and values based on nursing theory. The program actively promotes recurrent education to foster professionals with strong hospitality-based care skills.
