This Research Support Officer (Full-Stack Developer) position provides an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and inclusive research team at University College Cork (UCC), hosted by UCC’s nasc research centre and under the supervision of Prof. Cormac Sreenan. The individual appointed to this position will play a key role in this exciting and high-potential project as an important member of the cohesive team and supporting our path to commercialisation as a spin-out company.

UCC's nasc research centre is within the School of Computer Science & Information Technology (CSIT). The Centre comprises approximately 50 people working on networks, security and systems research. CSIT is a large, research-focused school, participating in many major national and international research collaborations, and with extremely strong links to industry partners. The project is linked to the large-scale national CONNECT research centre for future networks, in which Prof. Sreenan is a Principal Investigator and Deputy Director.
Information on the Project
gVID is a two-year project funded by Enterprise Ireland's Commercialisation Fund. This Fund is designed to support universities in Ireland to translate their research into innovative and commercially viable products, services and companies. The technology we have developed offers a cost-effective and scalable method for generating and distributing customised video ads using Generative AI, producing longer videos with smoother frame transitions and significantly enhancing motion realism compared to the state of the art. The key objectives of the project are to develop a minimum viable product and define a pathway to commercialisation based on allowing customers to significantly enhancing their return-from-investment from digital marketing.
Information on the Position
We are looking for a very experienced full-stack developer to join our team, working closely with the Principal Investigator, project Technical Lead and other team members. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors and Masters degrees plus 8-12 years of relevant work experience. This experience must include front-end in particular, but ideally also back-end and DevOps (please see detailed list below). Experience of working in a research or start-up environment will be viewed positively. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a convincing interest in joining a team focused on commercialising innovative technology in the exciting and quickly developing generative AI area.
