Applications are invited for a temporary part-time (0.5FTE) post of a Research Statistician within the UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science.
The UCD Centre for Support and Training in Analysis and Research (UCD CSTAR) is seeking a part-time Research Statistician to join our team of statisticians and faculty. The role comprises:
UCD CSTAR is an academic centre for research and CPD in University College Dublin, with remit to strengthen research quality by providing advice, consultancy and education in research methods to health researchers in Ireland. The Centre engages in close collaboration with clinical, laboratory and field researchers across a very wide spectrum of specialities, in order to raise the quality of study design, study protocol development, statistical analysis plans, data collection and management, statistical analysis and report writing. This is achieved through statistics helpdesks or clinics, one-on-one consultations, and short courses.
The Centre is embedded in the School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science on the Belfield campus of University College Dublin. UCD faculty members associated with the Centre are deeply involved in multiple collaborative research projects both within UCD and across the country and also deliver university accredited modules in research methods and biostatistics for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Salary: €42,205 - €54,625 Per Annum Pro rata @0.5FTE
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Additional Information
Eligibility criteria
Mandatory:
*Master's level or equivalent qualification or experience in a quantitative research field, such as Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, and adjacent fields.
*Good working knowledge of statistical software packages (e.g. R, SAS, SPSS and/or Stata).
*Demonstrated track record in the application of a variety of statistical techniques.
*Experience or training in the capture and management of data in electronic form.
*Demonstrable understanding of the study designs and data types arising in biological or health research.
*Evidence of experience and expertise in effectively communicating statistical ideas in written and graphical form via reports, presentations, etc.
*Demonstrated ability to work both as a team member and independently in the Dublin office.
*Excellent organisational and administrative skills, including time management.
*Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion agenda.
Desirable:
*PhD in a quantitative research field, such as Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, and adjacent fields.
*Previous experience in statistical consulting, particularly for researchers with a variety of skills and needs.
*Teaching experience in statistics/research methods.
*Experience or training in a specialised subfield relevant to the centre with a large statistical component, for example (but not limited to): clinical trials and their regulatory environment, ecological statistics, biomedical laboratory research, genetics, psychometrics, etc.
*Evidence of development of own research interests, commensurate with career stage.
