Being the first of its kind in Hong Kong, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering has been established to develop research and scholarship synergies in materials science and engineering, building on the existing strengths of our talented faculty. The new Department aspires to become one of the world-leading departments in cutting-edge research and professional education with a focus on four targeted areas, namely i) biomaterials; ii) computational materials science; iii) functional materials; and iv) structural materials. The Department will serve as a collaboration platform for developing cross-disciplinary academic programs and multidisciplinary research projects with other academic units in the University.

Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, conduct cutting edge research, and develop new research directions and courses.

A PhD in Materials Science/Materials Engineering or related disciplines with a strong research record and promising teaching ability.

Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance.  Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable).  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
