The Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) is a multi-disciplinary department hosted under the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences.  DSAI will be at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and innovation, driving forward the fields of Data Science (DS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).  The Department envisions to cultivate a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses key research pillars such as Big Data Analytics and Management, Machine Learning and Optimization, AI for Data Science, Deep Learning, Generative Learning, Biometrics Processing, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision and Graphics, Statistical Learning, and Bioinformatics.  Please visit the website at https://www.polyu.edu.hk/dsai/ for more information about DSAI.

Duties 

The appointee will be required to: 

(a) conduct research in related areas and contribute to the development of the Department’s strategic research areas; 

(b) initiate, lead and participate in scholarly research in his/her area of expertise that leads to publications in top-tier refereed journals and awards of external research grants; 

(c) supervise students and their projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; 

(d) undertake teaching duties at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and contribute to programme and curriculum development; 

(e) contribute to departmental service; and 

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a) have a PhD degree in relevant disciplines; 

(b) demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research; 

(c) have a proven track record in research and academic achievements; and

(d) be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills, with the ability to use English as the medium of instruction.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Appointment will only be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.
