La Rochelle Université is recruiting for a position within the Scientific Support and Coordination Department of the LUDI Institute as a Research Product Development Manager on a scientific mission contract. 

Project context 

As part of the ExcelLR project (PIA4 – Excellences), La Rochelle Université is implementing research product management initiatives. The position is fully integrated into an open science dynamic, particularly through awareness-raising and the promotion of data, code and models.  

This initiative, launched in 2023 as part of the UCLR project, aims to:

  • Promote the data, models and digital tools produced by the various research laboratories,
  • Establish a platform for data sharing and visualisation,
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary collaboration and innovation,
  • Improve our understanding of coastal socio-ecosystems,
  • Develop advanced tools to support sustainable land management.

The position also includes participation in the European LIFE Maraisilience project, dedicated to the establishment of a climate observatory and adaptation to climate change, in conjunction with the La Rochelle Zero Carbon Territory (LRTZC) programme.

In this context, the engineer will contribute to structuring the institution's open science policy by supporting laboratories and projects in the management, sharing and promotion of research products. This mission is part of LRU's open science roadmap, in line with the national and European context (National Plan for Open Science, CoSO, EOSC).

Job description

The engineer will have a strategic role in coordinating, facilitating, networking and promoting the research products (data, codes, digital tools) produced at La Rochelle Université. 

Several tasks: 

  • Promote and communicate about the tool for cataloguing, depositing and visualising research products from La Rochelle University;
  • Provide some of the training and awareness-raising on open science concerning research products
  • Contribute to extra-institutional dynamics

As this is a scientific mission contract, a six-monthly review will be carried out until the end of the project funding in 2032.

Main tasks: 

Promotion and coordination

  • Coordinate the ongoing development and evolution of the research products catalogue, in conjunction with the development engineer: https://data.univ-lr.fr , and the various departments of the institution;
  • Ensure that the existing tool is fed with data from the institution's projects;
  • Collect and prioritise user needs;
  • Promote project synergies and develop collaborations;
  • Contribute to the implementation of the institution's Open Science (OS) roadmap;
  • Write minutes, activity reports and reviews;
  • Contributing to, supporting and monitoring structural projects: ExcelLR, Observatoire Brouage, Enables (EU-CONEXUS), UNESCO Chairs and Digital Twin, etc.

Facilitation, training and networking

  • Facilitate the Data Management Working Group (BU, DPO, DSI, data referents, researchers, etc.).
  • Train and support doctoral students, engineers and researchers on the data lifecycle and data management plans (ED training, master's degrees, Excellence projects, etc.).
  • Strengthen collaborations with local stakeholders (urban community, CD 17, Tipee, Port, Qualyse, etc.).

Scientific monitoring and surveillance

  • Monitor scientific, technical and regulatory developments at the regional (LRTZC, MétaAtelier), national (Recherche Data Gouv) and European (EOSC) levels.
  • Monitor developments in digital commons: Datarchipel (LRTZC) and Jumeau Numérique France.

Communication

  • Ensure communication, promotion and enhancement of the actions and tools developed.
  • Design and produce presentation materials (scientific, technical, etc.).
  • Present and represent projects at seminars, conferences and events.

Specifically for LIFE Maraisilience 

  • Ensure part of the operational monitoring of the LIFE Maraisilience project (10% WP1; 20% WP2):
  • Lead monitoring committees (comitology) in conjunction with the Marais Poitevin Regional Nature Park and the institution's administration department (WP1).
  • Coordinate LRU actions in conjunction with the urban community (WP1).
  • Develop and implement a dedicated climate observatory (WP2).
