Offer Description
As part of an 18-month prematuration project, your mission will be to develop a breakthrough technology: an autonomous microfluidic system dedicated to detecting foodborne targets. Leveraging the plasmonic properties (LSPR) of antibody-functionalized gold nanostructures, you will design an "all-in-one" chip capable of handling complete fluid management—including flow, mixing, and incubation—alongside integrated spectroscopic analysis. Your primary objective is to overcome the technological hurdles at the interface of these disciplines to maximize device sensitivity and deliver a functional prototype, fully validated for transfer to industrial applications.
You will be the technological pivot of the team, tasked with overcoming hurdles related to integrating plasmonic biosensors within microfluidic chips.
A. Microfluidic Development & Prototyping (70%)
• Design and fabricate microfluidic chips (CAD Design).
• Master microfabrication techniques: SLA 3D printing, PDMS molding, and cleanroom work.
• Iterate on designs to optimize fluid circulation, mixing, and analyte incubation.
B. Surface Chemistry & Biosensor Validation (30%)
• Synthesize and functionalize gold nanoparticles (antibody grafting) by leveraging NanoBioSurf group expertise.
• Characterize surfaces and nanostructures via spectroscopic techniques.
• Validate the MVP (Minimum Viable Product): Analyze the sensitivity, specificity, and repeatability of the biosensor under real conditions.
• Process experimental data to adjust protocols (Python or dedicated software).
You will join the NanoBioSurf team within the Laboratoire de Réactivité de Surface (LRS), as part of a CNRS prematuration program.
This project aims to develop a breakthrough technology in the field of diagnostics: a true Lab-on-Chip that is sensitive, rapid, and specific, integrating advanced biosensors into a 3D-printed microfluidic device.
This is a strategic role: the objective is to transform scientific expertise (plasmonic detection) into a functional prototype capable of early pathogen detection in complex matrices. You will work in an interdisciplinary environment (chemistry, physics, biology) with the ambition of technology transfer towards clinical or industrial applications with high societal impact.
Why join us?
• Impact: Contribute to a project with high societal impact for the reliable detection of foodborne and clinical pathogens.
• Technological Excellence: Privileged access to state-of-the-art infrastructures at Sorbonne University (Cleanroom, 3D printing platform, characterization).
• Stimulating Environment: Join the Jussieu campus in Paris, a dynamic ecosystem conducive to innovation.
• Career Launchpad: An ideal opportunity to develop a rare dual competence (Microfluidics / Nanobiotechnologies) in a pre-industrialization context.
