Offer Description

Description of the research subject :

The research project is part of the ANR MECASOFT program, which includes two other academic partners in addition to IMMM (LPIM in Mulhouse and ICUBE in Strasbourg) and one industrial partner (Bruker France). The objective of the project is to validate original theoretical models of contact mechanics that take into account the effects of surface tension, adhesion, and viscoelasticity on nanoindentation measurements. These measurements
will be performed on specific, perfectly controlled materials for which several instrumental issues have been identified.

Planning research project : Décembre 2024 - Juin 2028 / December 2024 - June 2028

Assigned activities and expected results

The successful candidate will be involved in researching technical solutions for measuring elasticity modules using nanoindentation on flexible materials. They will be required to establish a reliable protocol for measuring elasticity modules using nanoindentation. The ultimate goal is to experimentally validate the original theoretical model of contact mechanics, taking into account the effects of surface tension on indentation measurements.
