Offer Description
Professor Julia Cagé, Principal Investigator of the European Research Council consolidator grant No. 101231066 ECOSOCIAL: Elections, Ecological Inference and Social Capital in Historical Perspective, hosted at Sciences Po, Paris, France, is seeking a post-doctoral researcher starting in early September 2026, for a duration of two years. The position is full-time.
The profile is a recent doctor in Economics, who is acquainted with Public Economics, in particular the empirical and theoretical literature on charitable donations, and the use of Historical data.
The goal of the ERC project is to examine empirically the historical evolution of political cleavages and socioeconomic inequalities, with a multidisciplinary perspective and the use of granular local level data and cutting-edge statistical methods.
The post-doctoral researcher would contribute to the last part of the ERC project, helping to the construction of historical series on the evolution of social capital going back to the 19th century, in particular in the context of the U.S., so as to investigate whether the explanatory power of this factor has gained importance in recent years.
