The Department of Business Administration at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We seek a talented and highly motivated individual with strong academic potential, with a growing track record in research in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation. The objective of the assistant professorship is to carry out teaching, research, and development activities in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation and to teach at all levels of higher education in English.

Entrepreneurship and innovation are central priorities in TalTech’s development strategy, linking entrepreneurship (including start-up entrepreneurship, student entrepreneurship), creativity, sustainability and innovation with technology. The position offers the opportunity to focus on entrepreneurship processes such as start-up development and entrepreneurial ecosystems, including emerging strategic areas such as defence technology and sustainability.

The appointee will be required to conduct research in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation as well as related fields, collaborate with other research teams both nationally and internationally, stimulate research activities at TalTech, and apply for research grant funding from national and international sources. The successful candidate will continuously work on the expansion of national and international networks involving both academics and practitioners.

Main responsibilities:

• Conducting balanced teaching, research, and development activities in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation in accordance with the academic career framework.
• Carrying out research and development activities and leading research topics.
• Developing cooperation with other research institutions and companies.
• Participating in the preparation of grant applications.
• Publishing research results.
• Acting as an expert in the field.
• Supervising doctoral, master’s, and bachelor’s students.
• Teaching at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels and contributing to curriculum development.
• Developing existing courses and/or creating new courses in line with the focus of the professorship and international trends.

The position is fixed-term for up to eight years (5+3 years) from the start of employment. If the assistant professor does not obtain a tenured professorship during this period, they will be transferred, following attestation, to an academic position corresponding to their qualifications and performance.

Specific Requirements

• A doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g. business administration, entrepreneurship, sociology), with no more than 10 years* since the degree was awarded at the expected start date of the position;
• Postdoctoral experience and/or professional experience outside Tallinn University of Technology, preferably in an international environment.
• Experience in leadingand participating in research and development activities.
• A publication record and pipeline in prominent international journals equivalent to at least two doctoral theses, with an h-index ≥ 6.
• Previous experience in successful applying for research funding, participating as a principal researcher in projects is considered an advantage.
• Participation in professional or academic networks.
• Experience in teaching and supervising at all levels (BSc, MSc and PhD level) is considered an advantage.
• High proficiency in English; for Estonian language proficiency, a performance agreement allowing up to two years to achieve the intermediate level may be applied.

* If the candidate has taken parental leave, maternity or paternity leave, or served in military or substitute service after obtaining the doctoral degree, the time limit for becoming an assistant professor is extended by the duration of such leave or service.
